One month in
It has been an incredible first month. Our Surf/Skate/Snow discipleship school started a few weeks ago and we've had an absolutely amazing time so far. We have seven students- four from the States, one from Japan, and two from Australia. They are SO rad! Wow, I love them so much already. Since being here, I've been reminded of how much I love people and making new connections. I have already seen the students taking bold steps toward God, it is a privilege to watch and be apart of.
We are all living in the "Wave House" which is our bases housing (some pics below). It's a blast to be living with so many young adults, there's always something going on. Monday-Friday we go to the base where we have lectures from different speakers on different topics.
We had an awesome time yesterday connecting to skaters from the around the coast at a Christian skate conference called "God Bowl". It was a huge blessing to meet some amazing people who have adopted their local skateparks as their ministries. We watched some crazy skating, and I mostly just acquired bruises.
So far, I am really enjoying my time here staffing. I have felt overwhelmingly blessed this past week, realizing it's my job (privilege) for the next year to invest in and serve people. I am praying that God would grow my heart to love from a place of overflow.
Things that I'm thankful for:
1. My DTS boys bought me a new skateboard last week (I almost cried, picture below) :')
2. Amazing leadership here that has been intentional and caring
3. The open and hungry hearts of the students
I'm super pleased with this last month. God has totally taken care of me since the moment I landed. It has been a pleasure so far. Looking forward to the next weeks and months with this school.
